The best Thanksgiving wines are fruity, generous, and soft with refreshing acidity. They should complement various foods on the table - turkey, cranberry stuffing, roasted squash, dairy-rich mashed potatoes - without overwhelming them . Aim for a Goldilocks wine: something delightful, charming, and easygoing that will pair well with every dish. Avoid anything overly tannic or oaky.
Bird's-eye view: for whites, try an unoaked (or very lightly oaked) Chardonnay, off-dry Riesling, or a pretty Pinot Gris. For reds, opt for Oregon Pinot Noir, Beaujolais, or a plush Merlot or red blend. And don't forget the bubbles! Lambrusco or a Crémant de Bourgogne will be a festive addition, and it wouldn't hurt to have extras lying around for the weekend festivities.
