If the term 'ba-da bing' had a wine equivalent, Kerner would be it.
Kerner is a crossing between Riesling, a white grape, and Trollinger, a red grape. What's fab about Kerner is that it's got the fruit and acidity of Riesling and the body of Trollinger, so it's got some junk in the trunk. Its weight means you can have it with richer foods, like cheesy risotto and a calorific onion tart. And the producer? One of my faves. Not for nothing, their Pinot Grigio is one of the best out there!
